Job description

Summary Under general supervision, tutors Ak-Chin Indian Community students in 9-12 grades in Mathematics, and English Language Arts in the After-School Tutoring Program. Minimum Qualifications Experience equivalent to two year fulltime tutoring, teaching, counseling or closely related work with high school students; OR a Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field. Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements.

Must successfully complete a background check. Examples of Duties Assists students in Grades 9-12 with homework in high school mathematics, reading composition, and English, in individual and small-group sessions. Assists students to gain academic knowledge and skill related to Arizona Common Core Standards in English language arts and mathematics.

Assists students in using computers in the Computer Lab. Assists students in Grades 9-12 with Computer Software. Assists students in Grades 9-12 with school projects and assignments.

Assists students with research projects using internet and other forms of research tools. Keeps daily attendance. Drives students to Tutoring Site and drives students home.

Attends Tutor Staff meetings. Completes requirements as Ak-Chin Indian Community employee. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Other Requirements Knowledge of basic educational subjects, including mathematics, reading composition, English and science. Knowledge of computers and software applications. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, and employees in the Community.
