Job Summary:
The Jekyll Island Authority is hiring a Guest Services Team Lead to assist the Mini-Golf amp; Bike Rental Manager with all daily operations of the island’s mini-golf and bike rental facility. Responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, shop supervision, inventory control, training and motivating staff, and maintaining accurate accounting records. This is a part-time position working up to 30 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours and days will vary.
Description:
  • Assists manager and supervises employees, including encouraging and motivating staff in sales and customer service.
  • Provide excellent customer service and enforce rental policies in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Assist guests with mini golf and bike rentals, including issuing and receiving equipment.
  • Assist with group mini golf or bike rental events.
  • Provide accurate information about facility rules, Jekyll Island amenities, and current events.
  • Schedules lunch amp; breaks to effectively manage day-to-day activities.
  • Operate a computerized point-of-sale (POS) system for transactions.
  • Accurately handle monetary transactions and follow established cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas and ensure facility appearance is guest-ready.
  • Track and record attendance, receipts, reservations, daily transactions, and repair activities.
  • Ensures availability of supplies by replenishing store stock levels daily.
  • Resolves customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assists in inventory counts, identifies shortages or surpluses and reports all discrepancies to the Manager.
  • Perform minor bike upkeep as needed (e.g., inflating tires, adjusting seats), training provided.
  • Briefs all guest services staff on any updates or changes at the start of each shift.
  • Enforces program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Prepares daily store deposit and daily revenue reports. Ensure that all shop accounting reports are accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper PCI compliance as required by credit card regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper cash controls in the shop and ensures all staff follow proper cash and credit card handling policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the team effort by striving for increased sales.
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance service quality and operational knowledge.
  • Follow Jekyll Island Authority (JIA) safety guidelines and operational protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors to support daily operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of a high school degree or a recognized equivalent.
  • 2 – 4 years retail store experience required.
  • Computer skills required; Excel is essential.
  • Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service and interact positively with guests, team members, and all levels of management.
  • Ability to effectively present information to guests, team members, and all levels of management.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled work shifts is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses / Background Checks:
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing criminal, credit, and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks.
  • Credit check required for all positions assigned to handle cash transactions regularly.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for tasks that involve travel between JIA-operated locations while on duty, whether using a state-issued or personal vehicle. All drivers must comply with Georgia state laws.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • 90% of the typical workday will be spent standing.
  • Between 25 and 50% of the day will be spent walking, lifting, grasping, feeling and climbing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Less than 25% of the day will be spent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Less than 10% of the day may be spent sitting.
  • Spend more than 50% of the day spent communicating (talking and hearing).
  • Must have sufficient visual clarity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned as well as close vision operate POS systems, prepare and analyze data and figures, and to operate and view a computer.
  • Work primarily takes place indoors in a climate-controlled retail space.
  • Work includes regular exposure to outdoor conditions (e.g. walking between buildings or locations). This may include extreme heat, rain, cold temperatures and other weather conditions.
  • Noise level is considered quiet to normal, depending on visitor traffic and special events.
  • Work is subjected to hazards such as moving vehicles.
