Job description

Description
The Department of Biology at Tufts University seeks a part-time, non-tenure track faculty member to teach a computational biology course (Bio 35 - Computational Biology) in the fall of 2026 (September-December). The course is currently scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-2:45pm. Students in the course should learn and apply introductory programming skills in Python to explore quantitative and computational methods that are central components of contemporary evolutionary, ecological, and biomedical research. No programming skills of students in the course are assumed. Existing course materials can be used by the part-time lecturer, or they may use their own existing computational biology course materials.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. and teaching experience in a relevant topic area (e.g. computational biology, bioinformatics, evolutional/ecological genomics). Experience teaching computational biology courses, evidence of teaching success, and an invested interest in developing inclusive classroom spaces that promote success of all students will be part of the hiring criteria.
