Description
The Undergraduate (UG) Communications Design (ComD) department at Pratt Institute is calling for applications for inclusion in the pool of candidates to join our part-time teaching faculty, starting from the Spring 2026 semester.
The UG Communications Design department is committed to educate students to become creative and responsible design leaders capable of bringing positive changes in our discipline, our communities, society, and the environment. Whether working with industry or acting as entrepreneurs, ComD graduates are able to create dynamic art, communications, systems, and products which help inform and inspire others - recognizing the strength that stems from a diversity of perspectives, ideas, backgrounds, approaches and experiences.
We seek applicants with a broad vision of the future of the design field and the ability to articulate that vision. We encourage applicants with experience and knowledge in the following areas of expertise:
  • Dynamic imagery (motion graphics, digital animation, AfterEffects, etc.)
  • Digital 3-d prototyping (Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.)

Examples of Duties
  • Teach part-time courses in the UG Communications Design department, focusing on areas such as creating dynamic imagery and/or 3D prototyping
  • Teaching to both concentrations in these courses: Graphic Design and Illustration
  • Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative learning environment by leveraging strong interpersonal skills and intercultural competence, engaging with diverse student populations to promote responsible design leadership.

Qualifications
Applicants are required to have a professional degree in communication design or relevant fields, and college-level teaching experience. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, a demonstrated level of intercultural competence, and ability to work well with diverse populations.
