The Department of Physics is a medium-sized department in the College of Arts and Sciences, the oldest and largest academic division of Indiana University.

Job Summary
  • Prepares, performs maintenance, and teardown of equipment used in the introductory physics labs.
  • Supports faculty and students by ensuring lab sessions are safe, well-organized, and technically functional.
  • Setting up experiments, maintain equipment, managing supplies, and assisting with lab development and safety protocols.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED of GED)
Preferred
  • Coursework in physics or engineering
SKILLS
Required
  • Hands-on technical skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
Preferred
  • Electronic repair skills
  • Video editing
  • 3D printing
  • Fabrication experience
  • Experience with instructional technology
  • Experience with lab systems like PASCO or Vernier
Working Conditions / Demands
This position will work in a lab setting. This postiions requres the ability to work on schedule.

Work Hours
Maximum of 20 hours per week. Depending on experience and skills additional hours up to 29 hours per week may be available.
