Job description

The Child Nutrition Department of MSD of Decatur Township is looking to hire passionate individuals to help us serve the students of Decatur Township! Your role would include assisting the team in the preparation and service of quality food to students in a quick and friendly manner. Join our team to help us feed the minds of our students and prepare them for tomorrow!

Open Positions:

  • Part-Time Child Nutrition Associate positions at all school locations
  • Substitute Child Nutrition Associate (Work when you can at any location!)
  • On-Call Catering Assistant (Support our Catering Department as needed for events!)

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Arranges food and beverage items in a serving line for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner.
  • Collects payments for food items from students and staff (e.g. cash, ID scan, etc.) for the purpose of completing transactions and/or securing funds for food selection.
  • Inventories food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
  • Maintains equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition (e.g. cleaning and sanitizing steam tables, trays, counters, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for the purpose of complying with current health standards and ensuring the safety of prepared foods.
  • Maintains stockroom (e.g. placing food and supply orders where they belong) for the purpose of ensuring a clean and safe work area.
  • Prepares and serves food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
  • Cross-trained as a cashier to help maintain accurate records and comply with established policies and/or procedures.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Manager.
  • Support student workers in their jobs for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe, and sanitary work environment.
  • Perform basic math, including calculations, percents, and ratios.
  • All other duties as assigned by Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Foodservice experience preferred but is not required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Approved background check
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, parents, school administrators, staff, and public/private agencies
  • Access to reliable transportation during working hours
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to take direction from Leadership and works well in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Seldom = Less than 25 %

2. Occasional = 26 to 50 %

3. Often = 51 to 75 %

4. Very Frequent = 76 % & above
