Facilities Maintenance Assistant - Newberg Friends Church

Building Maintenance Assistant Part-Time

  • Accountable to: Building Manager, Office Administrator, and the committee of Trustees
  • Purpose: To assist the Building Manager with the ministry of the church by providing care, maintenance, and security of church buildings and grounds.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the church facilities:
    • Assist with ongoing and preventative maintenance on building systems.
    • Assist with contracted plant maintenance and ground upkeep
    • Assist with ongoing contract commitments.
  • Responsible for events at church facilities:
    • Help with event set-up and tear-down.
    • Help with vehicle operations and upkeep.
    • Assist with cleaning and maintaining the parking lots
    • Provide emergency “on-call” services when requested by the Building Manager.
    • Perform other requests as needed through the Building Manager.
  • Responsible with other staff:
    • Work with and assist custodial staff when asked.
    • Work with and assist security staff when asked.
  • Position Requirements:
    • Work Environment: Indoors and outdoors, operation of machinery (vacuum, ladder, hammer, power drills).
    • Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, driving. Lifting of up to 50 lbs.
    • Hours: 15 hours per week.
    • Travel: Any travel expenses incurred for church-related activities (pick-up or drop-off) are to be reimbursed when submitted with documentation to the church bookkeeper.
    • Background check: Provide evidence of having passed a background check that meets the Spiritual standards of Newberg Friends Church and Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends.
    • Spiritual Agreement: Recognizes and supports the teachings and beliefs of Newberg Friends Church and the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends. (also a signed statement of faith that is current and filed)
