Position Summary
The Humanities Department at Roosevelt University seeks to hire adjunct faculty for the BA in Graphic Design program at our University Campus at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, IL. The part-time faculty member in this position will teach Graphic Design courses based in professional graphic design skills, which may include the principles and elements of graphic design, color theory, typography, page layout, digital imaging and illustration, web design, motion graphics, photography, and video.
We have immediate need for instructors to teach Visual Identity & Branding, and Digital Imaging & Illustration (Photoshop & Illustrator) at our University Campus at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois. These 2 classes are taught in-person.
Other courses to be taught at the Crystal Lake campus include: Multimedia Design (UI/UX), Animation, Packaging Design, Publication Design, Portfolio + Internship, and Graphic Design Capstone.

Entry level compensation rate for teaching one 3-credit course as of Fall 2025 is $3,982.00. Compensation for courses that carry fewer or more than three credits will be prorated down or up accordingly. Entry into the union for any subsequent semesters of employment thereafter is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Successful applicants will be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud software including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Proficiency with HTML/CSS and/or Motion Graphics (Adobe Animate and/or After Effects) is a plus. Photography and video skills are also a plus.
For classroom management, knowledge of and prior experience with the Blackboard Learning Management system is ideal, but not required.

Working Conditions
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds). May be exposed to loud noise from instrument and voice practice rooms on-site.
