Description
Apply online or walk in applications/ interviews available at Recreation Center, Monday- Friday , 9:30am- 2:30pm.
The Recreation Associate is responsible for the daily operation and organization of many areas within the Recreation Department. Position necessitates continual communication with all staff members as well as constant positive interpersonal skills with the general public. This position will assist in activities scheduled in the Recreation Center. Further, this position may assist the Recreation Center management team in diverse programming of athletics, games, fitness, and special events for all age groups as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of patrons using the aquatic facilities.
  • Enforce and explain rules as necessary.
  • Respond appropriately to any emergency.
  • Perform chemical testing and document results for three bodies of water and a hot tub four times a day.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training.
  • Ensure that the needs of the aquatic center are being met by folding towels; cleaning; filling water machines; and inspecting the Aquatics Facility to ensure a safe environment for members.
  • Maintain a professional attitude.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned
  • Assist in the organization and at special events upon direction.
  • Assist in sports leagues and other related activities if assigned.
  • General cleaning of the recreation center as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Lifeguard certification ( if applying for lifeguard position )
  • Certified CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification ( if applicable )
  • Early shift availability for both weekdays and weekends
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Management
  • Experience in recreation or related a plus.
  • Good customer service skills.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands: Ability to work in a variety of environments. Work can be indoors in an office with computers, phones, copiers, fax machines, etc., inside a recreational facility, or outside at a park in all-weather elements. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force regularly to move objects. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking. Must be able to work flexible hours that include evenings and weekends.
