Essential Duties
  • Provide safe and efficient transportation of students, faculty, and staff to various events such as field trips, conferences, and athletic events.
  • Follows all rules, policies and procedures of CCCC, along with regulations pertaining to the DOT.
  • Complies with all traffic ordinances.
  • Observes all mandatory safety regulations for buses.
  • Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • Keeps to assigned schedule.
  • Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
  • Notifies proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • Exercises responsible leadership on out-of-town trips.
  • Transports only authorized personnel.
  • Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Participates in training to become proficient in handling and maneuvering school bus.

Minimum Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • At least 6 months of driving experience.
  • A Valid NC Driver's License -either a Class B or Class C commercial driver's license (CDL)with good driving history.
  • Have "P" and "S" endorsements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written directions and read a map.
  • Ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, DOT physical, and MDE Basic Training Program.
  • Ability to continuously sit, occasionally walk or stand; jump out rear or side of bus as needed for evacuation; to frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing duties.
  • Ability to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times; ability to use hand strength to grasp the steering wheel and door; to lift or move up to 75 pounds, such as students.
  • Ability to continuously drive on the job. Vision abilities of close vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to work in a frequently loud work environment.
  • Prior bus driving experience required.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screening and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
