Overview

Opportunities abound at SOUND

SOUND Behavioral Health is growing, and we are hiring a cook to prepare breakfast and lunch for our clients at our Capitol Hill clinic in Seattle, WA!ย 

This cook will support our Pathways to Wellness program, which includes daily therapeutic groups, hot meals, hygiene facilities, referrals to community resources, and more.ย 

SOUND is one of King County's most comprehensive providers of quality mental health and addiction treatment services, supporting our area's most vulnerable populations.ย 

This is a part-time or full-timeย position. We are considering applicants for anywhere from 30-40 hours per week. Working closer to 40 hours per week would entail providing cooking skills training to clients and facilitating at least one cooking-related group per week, in addition to meal preparation responsibilities.ย ย 

Schedule: 30-40 hours between Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Specific shift is flexible.ย 

Location: 1600 E Olive St, Seattle, WA 98122 (Near Capitol Hill Trader Joe's).

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Prepares and serves nutritionally balanced meals twice per day for clients, following health and safety regulations.
  • Prepares and supplies food to remote sites for clients, following safety and health regulations.
  • Monitors food portions.
  • Follows recipe cards to prepare meals, increasing or decreasing quantities as necessary.
  • Prepares special menus based on client medical needs.
  • Cleans kitchen as necessary during the work day.
  • Participates in team member meetings, individual supervision, and assigned committees, as required.
  • Maintains ethical and competent consumer and peer relationships in the delivery of service.
  • Complies with all applicable federal, state, and county laws and regulations, and Sound policies and procedures.
  • Performs all job duties in accordance with OSHA and company-designated safety and health regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • One year of food service experience (to include cooking) in a restaurant or a healthcare setting is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to obtain Food Handler's permit within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record preferred.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background checks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The individual will be required to work in a kitchen and dining room, serving food and cleaning as needed. The individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
