Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Anatomical Histology Technician to support our in-house pathology laboratory within a podiatry practice. This role is responsible for the preparation, processing, and handling of tissue specimens in compliance with CLIA, CAP (if applicable), and internal laboratory standards.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in histology workflows and the ability to work independently in a small laboratory setting while maintaining high-quality standards and turnaround times.
Requirements
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of histology processing, including:
  • Specimen accessioning and verification
  • Grossing assistance (as permitted by training and scope)
  • Tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and slide preparation
  • Routine H&E staining and special stains as needed
  • Ensure proper labeling and tracking of all specimens in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA regulations, laboratory policies, and quality control standards
  • Monitor and document quality control, maintenance logs, and reagent performance
  • Troubleshoot routine histology equipment (tissue processors, microtomes, stainers)
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and safety standards
  • Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and reagent preparation
  • Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff regarding specimen handling and status
  • Support laboratory inspections, audits, and documentation readiness

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must be HTL (ASCP) certified with 2 yrs. experience in basic histology.

  • Knowledge of tissue handling, fixation, and processing techniques

  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
