Job description

Location: Hopkins Prairie Campground

Reports To: Salt Springs Site Supervisor

Housing: Required to provide a hard sided camper in fully working condition

Pay: $16.00/hr on-site

Hours: 15-20~ During busy season

10-15~ During off season

Amenities: Septic hookup, no other on site utilities provided. Laundry and showers available at Salt Springs Recreation area.

Position Summary

The Campground Host serves as the on-site ambassador for Hopkins Prairie Campground, providing exceptional customer service to visitors while supporting the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the campground. Living on-site, the Campground Host serves as a visible presence within the campground, assisting guests, monitoring facilities, communicating campground rules, and reporting maintenance, safety, and operational concerns to management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Visitor Services: Welcome visitors, provide campground information, assist with campsite orientation, respond to guest concerns, and communicate campground rules.

Rec.gov: Basic understanding and usage of recreation.gov for arrival reports and check-ins of guests.

Campground Monitoring: Conduct rounds, observe conditions, report hazards, violations, and emergencies.

Facility Oversight: Inspect restrooms, campsites, and public areas; report maintenance needs; clean and maintain all facilities and campsites to standard.

Communication and Reporting: Maintain regular communication with management and document incidents and concerns.

Resource Stewardship: Promote responsible recreation and protection of natural resources.

Required Qualifications

Ability to live on-site, strong customer service and communication skills, ability to work independently, dependability, and basic knowledge of campground operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous campground, park, hospitality, maintenance, or volunteer experience

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk the campground, work outdoors in varying conditions, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform maintenance and cleaning tasks.

Working Conditions

Outdoor and remote area, staff must be comfortable in a more isolated area of the National Forest interacting with guests and upholding the rules of a campground in a professional manner.
