Maintenance/Custodian
Job Description
Qualifications: Performs skilled and semi-skilled or manual work on maintenance/repair jobs with minimal supervision. Possesses knowledge on preventative maintenance of boilers, ventilation systems, motors, drives, and other building equipment. Possesses above average knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Professional attitude, dependable, reliable, and excellent work ethic.
Experience: Previous maintenance required. and custodial experience preferred. Strong leadership skills preferred
Reports to: School principal
Job Goals: The person occupying this position must be capable of successfully performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the position to create a safe and healthy work environment for staff and a learning environment for students.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
  1. Assists in the repair and maintenance of all school buildings
  2. Maintains accurate equipment and maintenance records, including testing of equipment
  3. Reports maintenance requests to the principal
  4. Required to assist in snow removal operations
  5. Assists with emergency situations at all school buildings including weekend call ins
  6. Keeps buildings clean, in an orderly condition, and in good state of repair
  7. Vacuums, sweeps, mops, and scrubs, classrooms corridors, stairways and restrooms according to approved cleaning protocols and practices.
  8. Removes litter and recycling from rooms daily
  9. Makes minor furniture and equipment repairs
  10. Replaces burned out electric lamps in rooms and corridors
  11. Assists in grounds maintenance
  12. Assists principal and teachers with various details pertinent to the welfare of the school and the children
  13. Always demonstrates professionalism and confidentiality
  14. Creates and sustains positive and effective interpersonal relationships in the workplace
  15. Communicates a warm, caring and respectful atmosphere to visitors, staff and community members that focus on quality customer service.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
  17. Serves as a positive role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  18. Classrooms are cleaned daily and mopped once a week. The cleaning protocol includes sweeping the floor, removing trash and other debris, wiping down the desktops, and door windows.
  19. Hallways and Staircase are swept daily and mopped once a week.
  20. Fennessey Hall and Hardiman Hall are swept daily and mopped once a week.
  21. Clean bathrooms which include all toilets and urinals, sweep floor, wipe, disinfect sinks, and toilets daily, replenish soap and toilet paper. Mop floors in the boy's bathroom daily, and girl's bathroom on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week.
  22. Receive the breakfast and lunch daily and carry to Fennessey Hall.
  23. Receive and distribute school deliveries.

Evaluation: Performance shall be evaluated bi-annually in December and June

This position has an hourly range of $17.00 - $18.00. An employee's pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
