Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Social Work prepares students to become practitioners adept at working with populations on micro, mezzo, and macro system levels.
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate sociology general education courses. The adjunct faculty member will teach up to nine credit hours per semester on a part-time basis, ensuring that course content aligns with established student learning outcomes. Additional responsibilities include engaging students in meaningful dialogue, promoting critical thinking, and assessing student performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to deliver instruction in multiple formats, with a preference for day-time in-person teaching, but also including online and hybrid modalities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in working with diverse student populations.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices in sociology education.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and instructional technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines for grading, providing feedback, and submitting reports.

Minimum Education/Experience
  • Master or PhD in Sociology

  • Preferred teaching/training experience
