Fitness Equipment Technician -PART TIME FLEXIBLE HOURS

Position Summary:
Mandel JCC is seeking a reliable and skilled Fitness Equipment Technician to maintain, repair, and install cardio and strength equipment throughout our facility. This role ensures that all equipment is safe, fully functional, and ready for members, supporting a positive and seamless fitness experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, strength machines, and specialty fitness equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate service logs of repairs, parts replacements, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment requiring external support.
  • Inspect and test equipment to ensure safety and operational standards are met.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of tools and replacement parts.
  • Respond to urgent service requests, prioritizing equipment critical to member use.
  • Assist with the installation, setup, or removal of equipment during facility updates or layout changes.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in fitness equipment repair, mechanical maintenance, or a related technical trade preferred.
  • Understanding of electrical components, small motors, belts, cables, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer service manuals and diagnostic instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (typically 50+ lbs).
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Certifications (Optional):
  • Fitness Equipment Technician Certification (IHRSA, Life Fitness, Technogym, Precor, Matrix, etc.)
  • OSHA or workplace safety training
Work Schedule:
Part-time, 10 hours per week; schedule may include mornings, afternoons, or weekends to perform repairs during low-usage times.
