Job description

Francis Construction Group, LLC is seeking a motivated, organized, and professional Part-Time Business Development & Social Media Assistant to help identify new opportunities, maintain relationships with prospective clients, follow up on leads, and strengthen our online presence.
Francis Construction Group is a Chicago-based, MBE/DBE-certified general contractor specializing in commercial, public, and institutional construction, as well as excavation, demolition, and site work.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
  • Research prospective clients, developers, general contractors, architects, property owners, and community organizations.
  • Identify upcoming construction projects, bid opportunities, networking events, and potential partnerships.
  • Contact prospective clients by email and telephone to introduce the company and its services.
  • Consistently follow up with leads, prospective clients, and business contacts.
  • Maintain an organized lead tracker and document all communications, follow-up dates, and next steps.
  • Schedule introductory calls and meetings for company leadership.
  • Assist with prequalification packages, capability statements, marketing materials, and requests for company information.
  • Monitor bid platforms and other sources for opportunities that align with the company’s services.
  • Help maintain relationships with existing clients and contacts.
Social Media and Marketing
  • Assist with managing the company’s LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent social media content calendar.
  • Create professional posts highlighting active projects, completed work, company milestones, employee achievements, community involvement, and industry news.
  • Coordinate with project staff to obtain jobsite photographs, project updates, and other content.
  • Create simple, professional graphics using Canva or similar design software.
  • Monitor comments and messages and ensure inquiries are routed to the appropriate person.
  • Help keep the company website, online profiles, project descriptions, and marketing materials current.
  • Track basic engagement and recommend ways to improve the company’s online visibility.
Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional and confident when communicating by telephone and email.
  • Organized, dependable, and consistent with follow-up.
  • Comfortable conducting online research and identifying decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Canva, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to manage multiple leads, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
  • Prior experience in business development, sales support, marketing, social media, or administrative support is preferred.
  • Experience in construction, architecture, engineering, real estate, or a related industry is a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently while providing regular progress updates.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is proactive, persistent, resourceful, and comfortable initiating conversations. This position requires someone who understands that successful business development involves building relationships and following up consistently—not simply compiling lists of potential opportunities.
Position Details
  • Job Type: Part-time
  • Expected Hours: Approximately 15–20 hours per week
  • Schedule: Flexible weekday schedule
  • Location: Chicago, Illinois (On-Site)
To Apply
