Part Time Building Custodian - Sachs Recreation Center - Multiple Positions

The Deerfield Park District's mission is to provide outstanding parks, services, facilities, and recreation programs that enrich lives, promote healthy living, and provide memorable experiences. To support our over 25 parks and facilities, we have a dedicated and diverse workforce of over 500 staff seasonally. We are an award-winning Park District with multiple distinctions of excellence.

Do you enjoy morning shifts with perks like free facility access for working out and playing Pickleball? We’re looking for a dependable, hard-working team player to assist in the daily maintenance of our recreation center as a Weekday Building Custodian, ensuring our high service standards are met.

Role 1: Monday thru Friday 7 pm-11 pm
Role 2: Monday and Wednesday (only) 5:30 am-9:30 am

Pay Rate:

  • $16-20 per hour, starting pay based on experience and seniority.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of all locker rooms.
  • Performs towel laundering.
  • Assists with the facility's day-to-day cleaning. Performs mopping, vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, locker room maintenance, and bathroom cleaning.
  • Cleans and maintains steam rooms, swimming pool, and whirlpool.
  • Plans and schedules work in accordance with goals established in conjunction with the Lead Facility Engineer.
  • Recommends to the Lead Facility Engineer the purchase of equipment and supplies necessary for preventative and ongoing maintenance of the Sachs Recreation Center.
  • Keeps the Lead Facility Engineer adequately informed at all times of problems related to the work and changes in plans and work completed.
  • Recommends policies and procedures for improving maintenance methods to instruct, counsel, and direct maintenance activities.
  • Assists management staff in enforcing policies and procedures for the Sachs Recreation Center.
  • Represents the Deerfield Park District at all times professionally, courteously, and enthusiastically.
  • Responds to concerns and requests from members, residents, and guests with a sense of urgency and takes corrective action, including follow-up.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, coupled with strong communication skills, having the ability to represent the Deerfield Park District in a professional manner.
  • Employee must possess a genuine desire and ability to interact with people of all ages and temperaments.
  • We abide by the IL Park District Code in our hiring practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
