DropGenie is building infrastructure to accelerate drug discovery.

We are building an automated microfluidic platform that makes complex cell engineering workflows simple, standardized, and automation-ready. Our technology empowers scientists to generate precisely modified primary and immortalized cell lines on demand, bridging the digital and biological to accelerate discovery and therapeutic development.

We are a fast-moving, early-stage startup with offices in Montreal and Boston. This position is open for Montreal. Every team member has the chance to make a real impact on the direction of our platform and the future of gene editing.

What You'll Do
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot microfluidic devices

  • Assist in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for device fabrication and operation

  • Support in-house fabrication processes and contribute to evaluating outsourced manufacturing options

  • Perform QC/QA tests (optical, mechanical, and electrical) across assembled devices

  • Design and adapt fixtures and jigs for device interfacing and validation

  • Run fluids through devices to verify cartridge integrity and collect test data

  • Document, analyze, and report on microfluidic performance testing

  • Collaborate with biology and engineering teams to integrate feedback into device iterations

What We're Looking For
  • Degree or diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

  • Hands-on experience with microfabrication or microfluidic device testing; cleanroom experience preferred but not required

  • Familiarity with CAD design tools; basic programming skills (Python, R) a plus

  • Comfortable with standard lab and engineering equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, amplifiers, etc.)

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability

  • Capable of working independently and contributing in a small, dynamic startup environment

Nice to Have
  • Experience in cleanroom microfabrication techniques such as photolithography

  • Familiarity with laboratory automation, liquid handling systems, or biology workflows

  • Previous work in a startup or multidisciplinary R&D environment
