What is a part time BCBA?

A Part-Time Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) job involves assessing, designing, and overseeing behavior intervention plans for individuals with behavioral challenges, typically those with autism or developmental disabilities. Part-time BCBAs work fewer hours than full-time professionals, offering flexibility while still providing supervision, training, and direct support. They may collaborate with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), caregivers, and other professionals to ensure successful intervention. This role is ideal for those seeking work-life balance or additional experience in applied behavior analysis.

What are the typical responsibilities and work environments for a part time BCBA?

As a Part Time BCBA, your core responsibilities often include conducting functional behavior assessments, designing and supervising the implementation of intervention plans, providing training to caregivers or staff, and monitoring client progress through data analysis. You may work in a variety of settings, such as clinics, schools, homes, or community centers, depending on the needs of your clients and the organization’s service model. Collaboration with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), teachers, and family members is a central part of the job, ensuring interventions are consistent and effective. Many part-time roles offer flexible schedules, which can be ideal for balancing other professional or personal commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the part time BCBA position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time BCBA, you need a master's degree in applied behavior analysis or a related field, active BCBA certification, and experience developing and implementing behavior intervention plans. Familiarity with data collection systems, clinical documentation software, and assessment tools such as the VB-MAPP and ABLLS-R is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with families, educators, and support staff are highly valued. These competencies are crucial for delivering effective, individualized behavioral support and driving positive outcomes for clients in various settings.

Can you work remotely as a part time BCBA?

Part-time BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) positions can sometimes be performed remotely, especially for tasks like data analysis, program development, and supervision of clients via telehealth platforms. However, in-person responsibilities such as direct client interactions or assessments may require on-site presence, depending on employer policies and state regulations.

What other jobs can a part time BCBA do?

A part-time BCBA can work in roles such as behavior consultant, behavior technician supervisor, or program manager, often focusing on client assessment, treatment planning, and staff training. They may also work in educational settings, clinics, or home-based programs, utilizing their behavior analysis skills and certifications to support clients and teams. These roles typically require strong knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and supervision experience.

  • Professional development and clinical collaboration
  • Opportunity to attend FABA and other industry conferences
  • Team appreciation events and wellness initiatives
  • Supportive leadership and a collaborative clinical environment

Why Join ABA Alliance Therapy?

We believe BCBAs do their best work when they have the support, resources, and clinical autonomy to focus on what matters most: their clients.

Our BCBAs work closely with RBTs, families, and other members of the care team to develop meaningful goals and individualized treatment programs.

We strive to create a workplace where clinicians can build their careers while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Position Overview

As a BCBA, you will provide clinical leadership for children receiving ABA services while supporting and developing the RBTs who work directly with them.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing behavioral assessments
  • Develop individualized ABA treatment plans and meaningful clinical goals
  • Oversee implementation of treatment programs and monitor client progress
  • Provide ongoing supervision, training, and feedback to RBTs
  • Analyze data and make data-driven clinical decisions

  • Maintain compliance with BACB standards, ethical requirements, and payer requirements

Our Clinical Approach

At ABA Alliance Therapy, our Circle of Care approach brings together the child, family, RBT, BCBA, and other professionals involved in the child's care.

We believe effective ABA should be individualized, compassionate, evidence-based, and meaningful to the child and family. Our goal isn't simply to teach skills in the clinic-we want to help children make meaningful progress that carries over into everyday life.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a BCBA who is:

  • Certified: Active BCBA certification in good standing
  • Compassionate: Committed to ethical, individualized, client-centered care
  • Collaborative: Enjoys working with RBTs, families, and fellow clinicians
  • Data-Driven: Comfortable using clinical data to guide treatment decisions
  • A Leader: Able to mentor, support, and develop RBTs
  • Communicative: Builds strong relationships with families and team members
