Job description

Overview

To build and strengthen the character of Jr. and Sr. High School students through structured and recreational basketball.

Responsibilities
  • Teach the students how to play/respect the game of basketball, enforcing the rules.
  • Develop and run a 2-hour basketball program 1-2 times a week for youth ages 13-19.
  • Develop and run a 2-hour basketball program once a week for youth ages 9-12.
  • Responsible for keeping the stats and submitting them to the Corps Officer at the end of each month.
  • Responsible for handling the Registration of the participants prior to the start of the program.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the gymnasium, hallways, and restroom facilities throughout the Corps building.
  • Responsible for notifying the Youth Ministry Coordinator of any issues.
  • Responsible for reporting to the Youth Ministry Coordinator of any problems, injuries, or incidents involving the property, program and/or the participants.
  • The Basketball Coach reports directly to the Corps Officers regarding all youth and family recreation related issues
  • The Basketball Coach is responsible for maintaining a safe and structured environment by following the Keepsafe policies.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and/or experience with basketball coaching
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving and assessment with the ability to multitask.
  • Work as a team player as well as independently
  • Good organizational skills, writing skills, and communication skills are a must.
  • Has respect and consideration for the people being served.
