Job description


Barback is responsible to support the F&B Supervisors and/or Beverage Manager in the successful operation of casino service bars at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Position will be engaged in the bar set up and organization, bar area cleanliness, trash removal, restocking, as well as the transportation and transfer of alcoholic products to and from warehouse, storage areas, and bars for the sale of and efficient production of quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage products for consumption by guests in a trained, responsible, and professional manner.
Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently transport alcoholic products to and from warehouse, storage areas, and bars, etc.
  • Responsible for the set up, support, and cleanliness of casino service bar areas, including trash removal, product restocking, etc.
  • Maintain standards of sanitation and bar cleanliness, as well as beverage service techniques with regard to the safe handling of beverage products for guest's consumption.
  • Display knowledge of all emergency procedures including familiarity with MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for chemical usage.
  • Ensure that bar and equipment are in good working order and that the work area is clean and hazard-free. Notify supervisor immediately if bar and equipment are not in good, safe working order.
  • Possess the ability to work in a casino environment, involving high volume fast paced production

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required. 1 (one) year experience in the Beverage Service Industry as a Bar Porter, Bar Back or similar position is preferred.
  • The position requires the ability to read, write, speak and understand English, distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols and be involved in daily professional communication with co-workers and guests.
  • The position requires math skills and the ability to multi task, basic beverage knowledge inclusive of specifications (fluid measurements, size, shape, color, glassware, and garnish) familiarity with product recognition (brand, label, bottle size and color, use, etc.).
  • Requires money handling experience, and familiarity with digital touch screen cashiering systems is preferred.
  • Position also requires excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate and ensure that daily work performed is conducted within HACCP guidelines.
  • Required to comply with safe and hazard free work environment practices stipulated in Horseshoe Indianapolis; County/State/Federal Department of Health and OSHA policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Position requires employee to be at least 21 years of age, and be certified in Serve Safe Alcohol Awareness, Indiana State approve Alcohol Training and may need to hold an Indiana ATC (Alcohol & Tobacco Commission) License.
  • Position requires scheduling flexibility, may be required to work weekends, holidays, overnight, or overtime.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The Positions requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push or pull 150 to 250 lbs on a pushcart, and enter walk-ins of -10 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit with or without assistance.
  • Handle heat from cooking appliances, food and dish/glass/ware washing machines.
  • The position also requires normal or corrected vision range, with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift, walk frequently, bend and/or reach to a height of 6 feet with or without assistance (stand, sit, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp).
  • Horseshoe Indianapolis is a smoking establishment. Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors and involves continuous exposure to high and low temperatures, sunlight, fluorescent light, wet surfaces and noise.
  • Employees will be required to navigate safely on potentially slippery floors.
  • Access to general gaming floor.
