Captain/Sales Associate

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for the daily functions of the Room Service Department. Take food and beverage orders over the phone and process the orders through the hotelโ€™s POS system. Close checks and complete reports as required. Accept cash payment for room service and dining outlets. Assign and oversee room service and amenity deliveries and other tasks directed to waithelp. Insure prompt service according to hotel standards. Check food and beverage orders being delivered. Take dining reservations for all restaurants and is knowledgeable in the menus, entertainment and hours of operation. Make suggestion to increase hotel sales and upsell products. Notify supervisor of any concerns during the shift. Direct waithelp to ensure orders are set-up completely & according to standards

Essential Duties:

  • Answer phone, greeting the guests in a warm and friendly manner, personalizing the service.
  • Take food and beverage orders according to hotel standard; upsell or do suggestive selling.
  • Process orders using the hotelโ€™s POS system, close checks and complete reports as required.
  • Responsible for a bank, accept cash, room charge and credit card payment for room service and dining outlets.
  • Take dining reservations for resort restaurants; familiar with restaurant hours, menu and entertainment.
  • Knowledgeable of the room service food and wine menu.
  • Assign and oversee room service amenity deliveries and other tasks directed to waithelp.
  • Check food and beverage orders being delivered; insure delivery is timely.
  • Consistently perform tasks as specified on sequence of service standards and SOPs.
  • Notify manager or any problems.
  • Oversee room service operation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Keep room service and surrounding area clean and orderly.
  • Pick-up and stock linen and other supplies.
  • Assist waithelp if needed.
  • Recommend the resortโ€™s restaurants and facilities to guests

Working Conditions:

  • Room service captain work station in the kitchen.
  • Kitchen noise.

Work Hours:ย 

  • Able to work hours shift and days determined manager
  • Able to work more than 40 hours per week when needed

Equipment Use:

  • Proficient in the use of a computer for reports and dining reservations.
  • Proficient in the use of the resortโ€™s POS system.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Able to prioritize and organize workload
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Able to sit at a desk , answering the telephone and processing orders for most of the shift.
  • Stand, walk, bend and reach to set up carts or assist waithelp

Communication Demands:

  • Able to communicate verbally to employees, managers and guests.
  • Able to effectively communicate over the phone in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Able to delegate tasks and supervise in absence of a manager

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Department of Health TB Clearance
  • Read and write to perform job duties
  • Ability to multi-task
