Job description

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), an NAIA institution and member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Part-Time Assistant Football Coach. This position assists with all aspects of the football program, including recruiting, player evaluation, practice planning and implementation, off-season conditioning, fundraising, scheduling, and other coaching or administrative duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Head Football Coach.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with administrative duties in all phases of the football program.
  • Assist with all phases of NAIA-compliant recruiting.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes through game, showcase, and video observation.
  • Execute and evaluate practice and game planning, including video coordination.
  • Provide position-specific skill development for assigned area(s).
  • Assist with practice planning and implementation.
  • Track, compile, and share scrimmage and game statistics.
  • Assist with off-season conditioning.
  • Assist with camps, fundraising, and other program development activities.
  • Assist with scheduling and arranging aspects of team travel, including team meals and lodging for home and away contests.
  • Assist the Head Coach with office and administrative duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations established by the NAIA and the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
  • Ability to improve coaching skills through personal research, professional development, and innovative thinking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and student-athletes.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to student confidentiality.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Previous collegiate playing or coaching experience required.
