Part-time animal jobs are positions that involve working with animals but do not require a full-time commitment. These roles can include dog walking, pet sitting, working at animal shelters, assisting veterinarians, or helping at pet stores. They are ideal for people who love animals but have other commitments such as school or another job. Part-time animal jobs offer flexibility and valuable experience for those considering a career in animal care. Duties and schedules vary depending on the specific role and employer.

What are the typical responsibilities and challenges of working part-time in an animal care setting?

Part-time animal care roles often involve feeding, cleaning, exercising, and monitoring the health of animals. You may also assist with basic training, socialization, and supporting veterinary staff with routine procedures. A common challenge is adapting to a fast-paced environment where the wellbeing of animals is a top priority, requiring strong attention to detail and compassion. Additionally, you may need to coordinate tasks with other staff members to ensure consistent care, especially during shift changes. Flexibility and strong communication skills are essential for success in these positions.

This is a great opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to stay clinically active while maintaining flexibility outside of work. You'll have an experienced team behind you, established clientele, and the tools you need to practice quality medicine without the demands of a full-time schedule.

What It's Like to Practice Here
Brandywine Hospital for Pets is a well-established, community-centered hospital with long-term team members and clients who value thorough care and strong relationships.
Our doctors collaborate naturally, share cases, and support one another while still having the autonomy to manage their own patients.

We value:
  • Thoughtful appointment pacing
  • Reliable technician support
  • Collaborative medicine
  • Clear communication
  • A respectful, positive workplace culture
  • Predictable scheduling and work-life balance

Medical Capabilities & Equipment
You'll have the tools and clinical support needed to work efficiently, including:
  • Digital radiology

CareVet offers:
  • Competitive compensation plus a generous signing bonus
  • No non-compete
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Student loan support
  • Paid time off
  • Health stipend
  • CE opportunities and support for professional development
  • Coverage for professional dues and licensing
  • Employee Assistance Program focused on compassion fatigue and stress support, including access to CareVet's on-staff licensed social worker

Life in Zanesville

You'll enjoy:
  • Outdoor recreation along the Muskingum River and at Blue Rock State Park
  • Local arts and culture, including the Zanesville Museum of Art
