Job description

Overview

The Lecturer plays a key role in delivering foundational medical education to undergraduate medical students. This position focuses on teaching core pathology content across multiple organ systems, integrating clinical relevance and problem-solving exercises to enhance student learning. This position will collaborate with module directors to align lectures with curricular goals and may adjust teaching load based on evolving curriculum needs. In addition to lectures, the instructor may lead gross specimen reviews and interactive sessions, as well as Problem Solving Exercises, depending on their area of expertise. This role supports the academic mission of the College by fostering excellence in medical education and student engagement.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning:

  • Classroom instructor of UME Pathology courses for medical students
  • Provide Problem Solving Exercises and Clinical-pathology correlations modules through the academic year.
  • Participates in all pre-session faculty development activities to ensure consistency of teaching between the individual student groups.
  • Teach topics like respiratory pathology, GU/GYN pathology, renal pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, hepatobiliary pathology, and neuropathology
  • Conduct Gross specimen reviews
  • Adheres to NYMC policy and procedures and guidelines for conflict of interest and other institutional requirements, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education requirement: M.D. and anatomic and/or clinical pathologist.

Technical/computer skills: Computer literacy in PC and Mac-based software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Office Suite, College's learning management system (LEO), virtual platforms (Zoom, etc.)

Prior experience:

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching in UME and/or other medical education setting.
  • Experience faculty development, educational research, and academic scholarship preferred.
Maximum SalaryUSD $1,200.00/Hr.Minimum SalaryUSD $900.00/Hr.Employment Type: PART_TIME
