Job description

Title: Household Manager & Family Assistant
Location: Maple Grove, MN 55311
Employment Type: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)
Proposed Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $25-30/hour based on experience
Requirements:
  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and a clean driving record
  • Comfortable working around a child with medical conditions (oxygen and medication present, but no medical training required)

Proposed Schedule:
  • Weekday afternoon hours (M-F), either 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM or 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Summer: More flexible schedule required to accommodate varying camp schedules

About Our Family:
We're a warm, active blended family of seven, with five kids ages 8 to 16. Our household is sometimes a bit of organized chaos, with rotating parenting schedules, multiple school districts, and a full calendar of activities and camps. Both parents work from home about one day per week, and we're very comfortable welcoming someone new into our circle. We're seeking someone to help manage the mental load, keep things running smoothly, and become a trusted part of our daily life. We really value authenticity and genuine connection. Expect a fast-paced home where schedules shift often and a good sense of humor is essential.
Who We're Looking For
Fun is non-negotiable in our home. The ideal candidate brings high energy, a proactive mindset, and a calm, unflappable approach to the daily rushes. You thrive on variety, happily move from task to task, and don't need constant direction. Comfort with a little chaos - and the occasional colorful word - is a must. We're looking for someone who genuinely wants to be part of the team, not just check boxes. If you're organized, resourceful, and excited about helping our mini Brady Bunch stay on track, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Support & Child Assistance
  • Pick-ups and drop-offs for activities and occasional school runs
  • Getting one child off the bus (between 3-4 pm daily) and settled in the home
  • Occasional evening childcare as needed
  • Kid-related errands such as picking up medications, getting skates sharpened, and purchasing birthday gifts

Household Management & Organization
  • Daily resets and tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas)
  • Prep home for cleaners every other week
  • Create and maintain household organization systems
  • Seasonal swaps (mudroom items, décor, bedding)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Event, holiday, and guest prep support
  • Indoor plant care
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Coordinate with cleaners for occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh garage, mudroom, and entry areas
  • Clean air purifiers
  • Long-term organizational projects (toys, gear)

Inventory Management & Errands
  • Proactively restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Eventually manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)
  • Run as-needed errands such as returns, gift shopping, and gift wrapping
  • Mail and package handling
  • Break down boxes

Meal Planning & Prep
  • Prep 1-2 healthy grab-and-go meals per week (bento box style, easy-to-grab sandwiches and snacks)
  • Grocery shopping
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance

Laundry & Linen Care
  • Occasional laundry support
  • Linen rotation (sheets, towels)
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Vehicle Management
  • One-off tasks, such as picking up new tags or taking the family vehicle for an oil change

Pet Care
  • Occasional cleaning of frog tank

Vendor & Property Oversight
  • Oversee cleaners, contractors, landscapers, pool, and sprinkler services
  • Research and coordinate repairs and quotes as needed
  • Coordinate seasonal property maintenance (leaves, snow removal)
  • Manage outdoor spaces (weeding, shoveling as needed)

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
  • Calendar management/oversight, including sports and school schedules (Google Calendar)
  • Event and appointment coordination
  • Occasional scheduling and attending appointments with children

How to Apply:
Please submit:
  • A short letter introducing yourself and explaining why you'd be a great fit.
  • Your updated resume.
  • Three professional references with contact information.

This role requires a background check.
