Their duties can include gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, analyzing flight records, and preparing reports on safety or compliance issues. They play a key role in ensuring airlines follow government regulations and industry standards, but work fewer hours than full-time investigators. This role is ideal for those with experience in aviation, law enforcement, or safety inspection who seek a part-time position.

To thrive as a Part Time Airline Investigator, you need a background in aviation safety, investigative techniques, and relevant regulatory knowledge, often supported by experience in aviation or law enforcement. Familiarity with aviation data analysis tools, incident reporting systems, and sometimes certifications like those from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for gathering evidence and presenting findings. These skills and qualifications are critical to ensure accurate investigations, uphold safety standards, and maintain public trust in airline operations.
