POSITION: Sunday Morning Teacher-Redeemer Presbyterian Church Lincoln Square (LSQ)
DEPARTMENT: Children's Ministry Department
REPORTS TO: Director of Children's Ministry
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
WORK HOURS: At least 3 Sundays every month, approximately 3-4 hours each week from
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and occasionally from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (with occasional additional
training sessions).
LOCATION: West Side YMCA
BAND: 4
WAGE RANGE: $30-$33/per hour
JOB SUMMARY
The Redeemer Lincoln Square (LSQ) Sunday Morning Teacher plays a key role in the spiritual formation of children from 25 months old through 5th grade at LSQ. This role involves implementing gospel-centered curriculum, creating engaging and age-appropriate classroom environments and helping children grow in their understanding of God's love. Teachers are expected to attend at least one curriculum training led by LSQ staff, lead with energy and care and partner with parents in the discipleship of their children.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Teach and lead age-appropriate Bible lessons using LSQ Kids' approved curriculum.
  • Create a welcoming, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Guide children through Bible stories, prayer, worship, crafts and small-group activities.
  • Maintain safety and order in the classroom, following LSQ's child protection guidelines.
  • Arrive early for classroom setup and stay for post-service breakdown.
  • Collaborate with LSQ Kids staff and volunteers to ensure a smooth Sunday experience.
  • Participate in occasional training and weekly ministry team check-ins.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be available to work at least 3 Sunday morning shifts every month.
  • Arrive on time each Sunday.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions each year to review policies & procedures and build community as volunteers so that as a staff we can continue to serve the children of Redeemer Lincoln Square safely and effectively.
  • Give at least 2 weeks notice prior to being absent. If ill, please notify the Children's Ministry Director as soon as possible.
  • A commitment to serve at least 1 year from start date.
  • Must pass LSQ's background check and reference check.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 1 year of experience teaching or working with young children in a ministry or educational setting.
  • Mature Christian faith. Must embrace LSQ's vision and have a gospel-oriented heart for children and families in NYC.
  • Reliable, warm, and able to work independently and with a team.
  • Must be punctual and responsible.
  • Must be able to follow safety guidelines and adapt to children's needs; attend mandatory CPR, Anti-Harassment and other training provided.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs and be on your feet for a portion of the shift.
