Job description

Gabriele Consulting Group is now hiring an early-career Business Analyst / Project Manager to support long-term projects for our clients. This is a great opportunity for someone who is eager to develop career-building skills in an environment that provides training and mentorship from senior leaders in business analysis, business processes and modern technology. We are looking for just two years of experience in business analysis, project management, or an IT-focused role in consulting, and experience gained during college through part-time work or internships counts.
Some foundational business analysis experience is required for this position (advanced Excel, some experience with reporting tools like Tableau), although most of the skills needed can be acquired on the job. We are most interested in finding someone who is highly analytical with well-rounded communication skills and the ability to work independently. We'll provide training on the specific processes and tools needed to be successful in this role.
About GCG
For more than 20 years, Gabriele Consulting Group Inc. (GCG) has provided mid-size and large organizations, including companies in the Fortune 100, with strategic guidance and hands-on support in solving their most complex challenges where technology intersects with transformational business objectives. With deep expertise in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, data governance, legal sourcing and eDiscovery services, GCG is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between tech teams and business unit leaders to improve performance, mitigate risk, and realize significant cost savings. Our goal is to provide clients with sustainable strategies, technical solutions and optimized processes, which drive profitability and competitiveness.
GCG is guided by our mission, vision, and values which unite us through a common goal, and exist to multiply the impact our clients have in the world by removing the obstacles that stand in the way of achieving their greatest potential.
Mission: Through a hands-on consulting approach, we solve complex problems and build sustainable capabilities for our clients.
Vision: We are a deeply integrated, trusted partner for a select few of the world's most impactful companies.
Core Values:

  • Accuracy - We take pride in tending to the details because we know our clients need to focus on the big picture, and we know accuracy is key to building trust.
  • Sustainable Growth - We help our clients build sustainable capabilities by teaching them how to maintain the solutions we develop, thus reducing their dependence on us, and we sustain our own growth by identifying new ways to add value.

Why Join Us
At GCG, you'll enjoy:
  • Being a part of a small, collaborative consulting firm while also gaining experience in a large, publicly traded company (our client)
  • Fully remote work with some flexibility on hours
  • Mentorship and training to help you develop your skills in business analysis, business processes, and working with powerful technology
  • Opportunities to sharpen your project management and communication skills in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment
  • Gaining valuable experience and building a strong resume for future endeavors in consulting, legal, and IT-focused fields

Position Summary:
We are adding a Business Analyst / Project Manager (BA/PM) to our small, dynamic team to serve the immediate and future needs for one of our long-standing clients (a large, publicly traded company) and potentially additional clients as we grow.
Our BA/PM will initially report directly to Jeff Gabriele for general employment and will report to different Project Managers on the GCG team for various assignments. This position will take over several analyst functions that require a high level of precision and attention to detail in data management, such as updating and maintaining essential databases and organizing information in Excel so that it is easily digestible and presentable.
The trajectory for a successful BA/PM is to grow into a higher level Project Manager role that is responsible for scoping and managing cross-functional projects, conducting robust analyses, solving complex challenges, delivering high quality results, and earning the trust of our clients.
As examples of the types of projects this position could work on, here are several projects we have been or are currently involved in with our current client:
  • Project management of very large unstructured data governance initiative, including managing unstructured data separation strategy and execution for a large-scale spinoff
  • Project management of a large-scale migration from prior versions of SAP and JDE ERPs to SAP S/4 HANA.
  • Program management of the ingestion of data into the company's Common Data Layer (CDL), which is a massive data repository, housing data from hundreds of apps and tens of thousands of tables.

The ideal candidate for the BA/PM role is someone who is interested in a career in IT-focused project management and would value the chance to gain experience working for a small consultancy with visibility into a large, complex organization.
This position offers a high degree of autonomy and a flexible schedule. This role can be done remotely from anywhere in the U.S., although it may be necessary to adapt to the East coast time zone to be available for client meetings. Success will be measured initially by how quickly the BA/PM can earn trust and take work off of other Project Managers, and ultimately by the magnitude of successful outcomes we are able to achieve for our clients. The career trajectory for this role may include ownership of client relationships and growth within GCG or a permanent placement within one of our client companies.
Responsibilities:
  • Support Project Managers in delivering great outcomes to our client
  • Utilize Excel for analysis and presentation of information
  • Manage collection, input, and accuracy of data in numerous databases
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Coordinate multiple initiatives and work within due dates for completion
  • Track project costs when needed
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings
  • Effectively communicate your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and client management when appropriate
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce useful reports
  • Work closely with clients, technicians, and managerial staff
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements
  • Manage competing resources and priorities

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; an MBA is a plus
  • 2+ years of experience in an IT-focused role in consulting, project management, and/or business analysis (this can include internships)
  • Education or training that provides a strong foundational knowledge of IT as well as hands-on experience working with various interconnected applications
  • Experience facilitating outcomes with numerous stakeholders while working independently in a very hands-on, autonomous capacity
  • Experience using Excel for analysis and presenting information to others
  • Experience that demonstrates the skills and character traits that follow

Skills and Character Traits:
  • Tech savvy; someone who enjoys figuring out new technology
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Enjoyment of utilizing technology for process efficiency and data visualization
  • Exceptional communication skills; verbal, written and visual
  • Highest personal and professional integrity and work ethics; ability to handle highly confidential information discretely and responsibly
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to get to the heart of the problem, develop a game plan, and engage diverse stakeholders in a solution
  • Natural inclination toward viewing challenging situations as puzzles to solve
  • Ability to manage adversity, handle complaints, settle disputes and negotiate successful outcomes
  • Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals
  • Inclination to take responsibility, self-manage, and be very hands-on in doing whatever needs to be done to push toward outcomes
  • Excellent documentation skills; inclination toward documenting meeting minutes, action items, processes, and decisions
  • Ability to apply the agile methodology, manage scrums, utilize Kanban boards, run kaizen workshops, memorize acronyms, rapidly learn new skills, and readily adapt to new tools, technologies and approaches to match the needs of our clients.
  • Ability to handle a significant workload in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects, timelines and due dates

Compensation & Benefits:
  • This is a full-time W-2 employment position
  • The compensation range for this position is $25-$30/hour (equivalent of $50,000 - $60,000 annually)
  • GCG offers a 401k match, paid time off, and a flexible schedule.

We value diversity and commit to making hiring decisions based on the skills and traits needed to be successful in this role. We are an equal opportunity employer and we welcome your application!
