About This Role

UMCCC is looking for a Part Time- Afternoon Teacher. The Afternoon Teacher will be responsible for creating a caring and safe environment for the children while leading activities that improve the overall care and quality of education. Working primarily independently with minimal overlap with the morning teacher, the Afternoon Teacher must be able to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff. The Afternoon Teacher is responsible for implementing any developmentally appropriate activities based on what the morning teacher has planned, maintaining classroom routines, and fostering positive relationships with the children and their families. This position requires strong independent classroom management skills while collaborating with the morning teacher and Director to ensure program continuity.


What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with colleagues and be a team player.
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Requirements
  • Needs to be able to stay until 5:30pm
  • High energy and patience level.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Must be open to changes in classroom placement and flexible in regard to hours of work.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass health screening
  • Must complete 24 hours of online training within 90 days of hire.
