Job description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PHYSICIAN (AEROSPACE MEDICINE), Position Description Number T6001000 and is part of the WY 153rd Medical Group, Wyoming National Guard.
This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is not required.Qualifications:AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:
Referrals of qualified applicants will be issued in the following order:
Area 1: Permanent and indefinite Wyoming Air/Army National Guard (NG) T5 and T32 Dual Status Technicians (DST) employed within a specific work center.
Area 2: Permanent and indefinite WYNG Title 5 and T32 DST employees with the Wyoming Air/Army National Guard.
Area 3: Current Federal employees within the Competitive and Excepted Service, and Competitive Service Reinstatement Eligible employees. Former NG T32 Dual Status employees receiving an Honorable or a General Discharge under Honorable Conditions are eligible for reinstatement provided they have been separated for at least one year before applying for reinstatement and received a rating of record of their most recent permanent position of a least fully successful (or equivalent).
Area 4: Currently serving and former Active Guard/Reserve (AGR), and M-Day/Drill Status Guard (DSG) members of the National Guard. This provision is intended to boost the candidate pool to reach more qualified candidates and place DSG/M-Day personnel on par with currently serving civilian personnel.
Area 7: U.S. Citizens
Upon acceptance of this position, if selected candidate is a Competitive Service employee, they will convert to Excepted Service and be required to sign a memorandum IAW 5 CFR 302.102. Acceptance of the proposed appointment will take the employee out of the competitive service while s/he occupies the position.

To qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Must possess a valid state's driver's license.
MILITARY DRILL WEEKEND SUPPORT:
This position requires schedule flexibility to support military operations. You may be required to work non-standard hours, including supporting military drill weekends (typically one weekend per month). Because this position falls under the DoD Physician Pay Plan, these extended hours are covered by your Market Pay and do not qualify for additional premium or overtime pay.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Part-Time, or Job-Sharing
This position may be filled as one Full-Time position (80 hours per bi-weekly pay period) OR by two part-time employees participating in a formal Job-Sharing arrangement (typically scheduled between 16 and 32 hours per week, or 32 to 64 hours per bi-weekly pay period).

JOB-SHARING REQUIREMENTS (If applicable):
If the position is filled via a job-sharing arrangement, selected candidates will be required to sign a formal Job-Sharing Agreement prior to appointment. This agreement will outline:
  • Individual work schedules (ranging from 16 to 32 hours per week).
  • Required overlap hours (e.g., designated days/times when both job-sharers are on duty) to facilitate critical clinical handoffs, peer reviews, flight physical signoffs, and administrative consistency.
  • A strict condition that the combined hours of both job-sharing employees do not exceed agency budget or Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) allocations.
Education:Mandatory Education Requirement:
Degree:
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure:
Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (Include legible proof with application.)
Graduate Training:
Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.
An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems
under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or
other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
(external link).
A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a
recognized body of the American Medical Association (external link), (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external link), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Must possess at least 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
