Job description

Title:Youth & Young Adult Ministry Coordinator, Part-time (25 hrs./wk.)

Reports to: DRE and/orPastor

Location:St. Peter the Apostle Parish

Classification: Salaried/Exempt

Overview

The Youth & Young Adult Ministry Coordinator will coordinate the planning, integration, implementation and evaluation of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry program in collaboration with the Pastor/Administrator and Director of Religious Education for the total Parish community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Youth and Young Adult Faith Formation as an integrated part of the parish faith life within our multicultural trilingual community.
  • Coordinate with the Pastor, Business Manager, and Director of Religious Education (DRE) in planning Parish short and long-term goals regarding the youth and young adult program in keeping with the overall religious education program goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and assist with the Youth and Young Adult Faith Formation operating budget in accordance with budget policies.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Pastor/Administrator, Business Manager, DRE and other Parish ministries on an on-going basis regarding scheduling and promotion of youth and young adult events and youth group participation.
  • Coordinate with development of plans and implementation for the recruitment and training of youth and young adult team and volunteers.
  • Schedule regular team and volunteer meetings to encourage the development of a youth and young adult program that has the youth and young adults participating in the whole life of the parish faith community.
  • Coordinate team, volunteers, and catechists with their certification requirements.
  • Communicate Youth program objectives to the parents and parish and have team members that can communicate with the Creole, English, and Spanish speaking families, if unable to do so.
  • Meet the requirements of safe environment policies regarding Safe Environment Training for youth, young adult and adult team and volunteers.
  • Attend Diocesan meetings related to Religious Education, Youth Ministry, and Safe Environment Programs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor/Administrator.
  • Bachelor's degree in Religious Education, Theology or Catechetics and Evangelization preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working with parish youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred. Creole would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must pass DOV assigned level II FDLE background check.
