Job description

Position Summary
The Wardrobe Technician (Level 1) Part Time is an entry-level position within the Production Department that will, with direction from the Lead Production Technician-Wardrobe, assist in the daily operation and maintenance for costumes, props and soft goods for the Production and Entertainment Departments as well as special events and other Guest programming, and support all other show production departments as needed/required. The Wardrobe Technician (Level 1) Part Time will facilitate all costuming activities, fittings, care and cleaning, maintenance, replacement and rehearsal support as directed by the Wardrobe Lead Technician or Management Team as required.
Responsibilities:
Production and Operations
  1. Adhere to established Standard Operating Guidelines for wardrobe area
  2. Execute and maintain strict quality control over the costume designer's original design and creative vision/intent for all productions
  3. Assist in the building of new costume items, props or soft goods as needed.
  4. Participate in and support load-ins, turn-a-rounds and strikes as needed/required as it pertains to costumes and props
  5. Assist with the mentoring and training actors, animal trainers and other performers on all show operations, proper garment care and professional conduct in dressing areas as established by Company guidelines.
  6. Assist in maintaining and updating all costume and equipment inventories, and replenishment of expendables/supplies as directed
  7. Adhere to established inspection and maintenance schedules for costumes
  8. Adhere to established rules for ensuring the safety of the performers and the living collection
  9. Repair all costume pieces as needed.
  10. Possess the ability to take cues as required
  11. Function as back-stage tech during shows, special events, and rehearsals as required.
  12. Crosstrain into /perform other daily operation roles as time/ and skill set allows.
  13. Perform other duties as workload necessitates, which may include administrative and/or other technical duties as required by the Production management team.
  14. Assist with the Venue / House Management as needed, which may include opening/closing the house and making calls prior to performances.

Rules and Regulations:
  1. Enforce and adhere to all rules and regulations of the company including but not limited to those outlined in the employee handbook or other documentation
  2. Enforce and adhere to all health and safety standards and regulations
  3. Enforce and adhere to all facility/building codes
  4. Enforce and adhere to OSHA regulations and safety procedures
  5. Participate in Aquarium's cost reduction, budget and strategic planning process

Implement and sustain a team environment as well as promoting a culture of personal learning and professional development
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum one (1) year experience in live entertainment and event costuming
  2. Possess basic knowledge of all live entertainment, theatrical and special event costume production and operations
  3. Possess basic knowledge of all live entertainment, theatrical and special event production and operations for all departments
  4. Possess basic knowledge of the operation and maintenance of sewing machines, washing machines, ironing machines, cleaning chemicals, costumes, garments, personal hygiene as it applies to clothing and costumes, fabric, accessories, wigs, millinery, and footwear
  5. Possess basic knowledge of the fitting and altering of costumes
  6. Field experience with repairs and troubleshooting of costume elements
  7. Possess office computer skills. Specifically: MS Word and MS Excel
  8. Ability to kneel, lift, and carry heavy equipment, work in confined spaces and at heights above 16'
  9. Ability to swim
  10. Exemplary collaborator with excellent communication skills

  12. Possess the highest level of motivation, pride in work and leadership
  13. Remain flexible and available to work long hours, as needed, on a potentially fluctuating schedule, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
