Job description

We are seeking to hire qualified part-time candidates to assist our clients with accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

Summary of responsibilities:

A Specialist in the CAS Group at Grossman Yanak & Ford LLP assists our clients with the production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results. The CAS Specialist will oversee and provide services pertaining to accounting, bookkeeping and financial reporting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, journal entries, and monthly, quarterly and year end reporting. The individual will be highly motivated, possess strong communication skills and have a high commitment to quality.  Our team members support the Firm’s mission, vision and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, teamwork, collaboration, respect, commitment, and accountability.

Essential Functions, Desired Capabilities and Personal Characteristics include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in month end, quarter end, and year end closing process ensuring transactions are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including preparation of financial statements and reporting package for management, balance sheet account (including bank) reconciliations and posting general ledger journal entries as required.
  • Prepares financial related analysis and research and ad hoc reporting in areas such as financial and cost saving performance measures and actual vs. budget reporting, customer and vendor metrics.
  • Leads Accounts Payable function to process vendor invoices.
  • Oversees other treasury management responsibilities including vendor payments and approval, and assists with cash flow forecasting.
  • Assists with annual and quarterly budget and forecasts.
  • Assists with requests from external accounting firm related to financial statement engagement and various tax filing requirements.
  • Identifies and prioritizes issues and workload for self and team of staff accountants, if applicable; completes work within specified time budgets.
  • Communicates professionally with poise and tact; motivated, ambitious, decisive, a self-starter and committed to high quality work products.
  • Respects and adheres to client confidentiality in all matters.
  • Completes other accounting responsibilities as assigned.

Education, Experience and Additional Skills Required:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field.

·         Minimum 5+ years of related experience in bookkeeping, accounting and/or financial analysis.

·         QuickBooks and/or NetSuite experience a plus.

·         Strong written and oral communication skills.

·         Adaptable to learn new software products and applications.

·         Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

·         Needs good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. 

Schedule Considerations:

·         Commitment of approximately 20 hours per week.

·         Hybrid in office/work from home schedule.

·         Frequent same day travel for work at client’s offices using a personal vehicle.

·         Flexible schedule including visits to client’s offices in Western Pennsylvania (same day travel), office time and remote work.
