Valley Senior Services is accepting applications for a part-time Transit Driver for our Richland County Transportation program. The successful candidate will drive the city route on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as two county routes per month. They will also assist the city routes on heavier days. The candidate will be trained to drive our 10-passenger shuttle bus as a backup driver. Candidates must be able to lift, carry, push/pull up to 50lbs.

Essential Functions

Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide safe and effective transportation for passengers.
  • Keep accurate payment information and rider counts.
  • Ability to navigate the city and county.
  • Perform Pre and Post inspections on vehicle.
  • Pick up passengers in a safe and efficient manner according to schedule.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues to the County Program Supervisor.
  • Fuel vehicle when needed.
  • Complete daily rider information paperwork.
  • Comply with all Drug and Alcohol testing requirements.
  • Assure that vehicles obtain the proper maintenance at the appropriate intervals of time and keep detailed records of the maintenance performed.
  • Attend meetings for drivers.

Other Functions

Evaluation of this position may also be based on occasional performance of the following other functions, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend all other required training sessions and meetings by Valley Senior Services and Fargo Park District.
  • Maintain a clean driving record while employed with Valley Senior Services.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff.
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Ability to have great customer service with the riders.

Education/Experience

  • Experience driving a minivan-type vehicle is preferred.
  • Experience driving Handicap Accessible vehicle is preferred.
  • Experience with vehicle maintenance is preferred.
  • Credentials/Licenses/Certifications - Must possess a valid driverโ€™s license.
  • Mandated pre-employment drug testing. Random drug & alcohol testing after employment.
