Job description

Pediatric Diagnostician

Licensed Psychologist (1099/Independent Contractor)

Ignite Child Development Services | Appleton, WI | Part-time or Full-time | Flexible Scheduling

About Ignite

Ignite Child Development Services is a clinician-owned ABA therapy organization serving children with autism and developmental needs across five Wisconsin locations. We are BCBA-led and family-centered, built on the belief that gold-standard, evidence-based care should be accessible to every family, regardless of zip code. Our Appleton center is a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where BCBAs, speech therapists, OTs, and mental health providers work in close coordination to support each child's growth.

As we expand our diagnostic capacity, we are seeking a licensed psychologist to join our team in a focused, independent contractor capacity, conducting psychoeducational and autism evaluations for young children ages 2-6.

Role Mission

As an independent contract diagnostician, your sole focus is delivering high-quality autism diagnostic evaluations for children ages 2-6 at our Appleton location. You will not carry a clinical caseload, provide therapy, or hold supervisory responsibilities. This engagement is narrowly scoped to the full diagnostic process: assessment, scoring, interpretation, and written reporting. Your work directly enables families to access services, and your timely, accurate evaluations are foundational to every treatment journey that follows.

Who We're Looking For

You are a licensed psychologist who specializes in, or has deep hands-on experience with, autism evaluations in early childhood. You're at home in the room with a 3-year-old. You know how to administer the ADOS-2, CARS-2, and related tools with fidelity, and you write reports that are clear, actionable, and parent-friendly. You value autonomy in your practice but want access to a warm, collaborative clinical environment without the overhead of running your own office.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Have direct experience evaluating children with autism, particularly in the 2-6 age range

  • Are skilled at keeping young, dysregulated, or minimally verbal children engaged throughout a full evaluation

  • Can produce comprehensive, diagnosis-ready reports that clearly support clinical decision-making

  • Want a focused, flexible consulting arrangement, not a full-time employment role

  • Are passionate about reducing diagnostic wait times and improving access for underserved families

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational and autism diagnostic evaluations for children ages 2-6 referred through Ignite

  • Administer standardized instruments including, but not limited to, the ADOS-2, CARS-2, Vineland-3, cognitive assessments, and parent-report measures as clinically indicated

  • Review developmental and medical history prior to evaluation sessions

  • Deliver complete written evaluation reports within one week of testing, with clear diagnostic impressions and recommendations

  • Participate in feedback sessions with families to review findings in accessible, jargon-free language

  • Coordinate with Ignite's clinical team as needed to ensure a warm handoff to therapy services following diagnosis

  • Maintain documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable state regulations

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Psychologist (LP, PsyD, or PhD) in the state of Wisconsin, active and unrestricted license required

  • Demonstrated experience administering autism diagnostic instruments, particularly the ADOS-2, with children ages 2-6

  • Training and competency in a full battery of early childhood psychoeducational assessment tools

  • Experience working with autistic children, children with developmental delays, and their families

  • Strong written communication skills, with report writing that is clinically rigorous and parent-accessible

  • Ability to complete and deliver evaluation reports within one week of the testing date

  • Maintains or is willing to obtain professional liability (malpractice) insurance

Preferred Qualifications

  • ADOS-2 research reliability or formal ADOS-2 training certification

  • Experience working within or alongside an ABA provider or multidisciplinary pediatric setting

  • Familiarity with Wisconsin Medicaid (ForwardHealth) and commercial payer credentialing requirements

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages common to Appleton-area communities)

Key Performance Indicators

  • Report turnaround of 7 days or fewer from the date of testing

  • Evaluation reports are accurate, complete, and peer-review ready

  • Positive feedback from families following feedback sessions

  • Minimal reschedules or cancellations of evaluation appointments

Compensation

This is an independent contractor (1099) engagement, not an employee position. We offer two flexible compensation structures. Choose the arrangement that best fits your practice:

Option 1: Fixed Rate per Billable Hour

A competitive hourly rate for time spent in direct evaluation, feedback sessions, and report writing. Ideal for contractors who prefer predictable, time-based compensation.

Option 2: Percentage of Collections

A percentage of reimbursement collected per evaluation. Well-suited for practitioners who prefer compensation tied directly to evaluation volume and payer reimbursement.

Specific rates are discussed during the interview process.

What Makes This Arrangement Different

  • Fully flexible scheduling: you set your own hours and evaluation calendar

  • Narrowly scoped work: diagnostics only, no therapy caseload, no supervisory duties

  • On-site at our Appleton center: no need to manage your own space or client referrals

  • Access to a warm, multidisciplinary clinical team and a built-in referral pipeline

  • Mission-aligned work: your evaluations directly open doors for families on waiting lists
