Description
Are you looking for a fulfilling job that allows you to make a positive impact on your community? If so, we have great opportunities for you to support your local Parks & Recreation department.
The City of Reno is currently accepting applications for various part-time positions. The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking energetic, reliable, and community-focused individuals to support Park Activation Programs throughout parks, plazas, and public spaces. These positions provide frontline support for recreational programming, events, and community activations and serve as welcoming representatives of the City of Reno. We have many positions available that cater to different interests and skills. Salaries and hours vary by position and may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Read through the job descriptions and supplemental information below for the details regarding each position. Available Position(s):
  • Seasonal Event Host ($20-26/hour) (Available year-round)

Examples of Essential Functions
Seasonal Event Host:
  • Provide onsite support during festivals, concerts, community gatherings, neighborhood activations, and specialized programs; serve as a liaison between event organizers and City departments (e.g., Parks & Recreation, Public Works, Public Safety); and act as a resource to promoters, vendors, and attendees regarding public facilities, programs, and services.
  • Monitor event sites and program areas to ensure promoter compliance with City requirements and approved permits, including maintaining safety, cleanliness, organization, and appropriate use of facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Some positions may have a higher age requirement than 16 and require additional certifications for employment. The minimum qualification requirements for the Activation positions can be found below.
Seasonal Event Host:
  • Age: 18
  • Education: An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or the equivalent in
    Experience.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in event operations, hospitality, or customer service; expertise in specialized area such as Recreation, Inclusion, Athletics, Parks, etc.
  • Preferred: Bilingual abilities (Spanish or other languages)
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license
  • Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid preferred
