Job description

Overview
FirstHealth of the Carolinas is a nationally recognized health care system located in central North Carolina. The Access Control Officer position is responsible for overseeing all access control, lock and key, camera systems, parking and other related security items for the system. The position will focus on management of all systems to include planning, implementing, and maintaining. The position will work in coordination with the public safety leadership team on developing short- and long-term plans in related areas.
Responsibilities
Serve as technical surveillance specialist for the FirstHealth Public Safety system.
Assist with video review request from other parties.
Assist with internal public safety related investigations.
Evaluate, develop, and recommend short- and long-term access control plans.
Evaluate, develop, and recommend short- and long-term camera system plans.
Proactively monitor camera systems to identify and deter security related incidents.
Develop physical and technical strategies to promote a safe environment for all FirstHealth facilities.
Act as subject matter expert for the department in technology related processes and assist in cross training other staff in these areas.
Attend meetings related to access control, camera systems and other related areas.
Assist in monitoring, maintenance and testing of patient monitoring systems used in sensitive units, to include behavioral, emergency department, and women's and children.
Assist in overseeing public safety department drills including but not limited to fire and codes.
Lead and develop processes to issue, maintain and monitor employee and other authorized individuals' credentials.

Lead and manage processes of the company police department as deemed necessary by the Chief of Police.
Assist with the overall direction of the public safety operations system and perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Public Safety.
Qualifications
Associate degree in relevant discipline. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a comparable role in a public safety or related field. Ability to obtain within an established timeframe IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety) series of security certifications: CHSO (Certified Healthcare Security Officer), CAHSO (Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer), CHSS (Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor). Ability to attend other job-related training as needed to successfully perform the duties required. Significant related experience may be accepted in lieu of education or formal training.
