Job description
Job Summary This volunteer position supports the daily operations of a mountain ranger station by providing a mix of front desk assistance, administrative support, and light park upkeep. The role serves as a welcoming first point of contact for visitors while helping staff stay organized through routine clerical tasks, inventory tracking, and timely communication. Volunteers also contribute to maintaining a clean and pleasant environment by assisting with basic park maintenance duties as needed.
Schedule: 24 hours Per week Reports To: Volunteer Liaison or Coordinator of assigned location Special Requirement: Must pass a background check May be required to pass a drug screening test Essential Job Functions Meets and greets the public. Assists an office superior by performing routine administrative details including but not limited to: sorting and routing department mail, making copies, scanning documents, filing, alphabetizing documents and date stamping incoming documents, maintaining waiting lists for services, etc. Meets established deadlines and informs concerned parties of deadlines and appointments.
Maintains an inventory of materials on-hand and notifies the supervisor when supplies are needed. Performs a variety of park maintenance duties to include, but not limited to, trash clean up. Secondary Job Functions: Understands and interprets procedures and practices related to various departmental and assigned programs.
May talk with individuals to gather preliminary information or verify information for various County programs or activities. Special Job Requirements: Must complete all County required training courses Provide acceptable driving history at no cost to the County. Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads at the start of volunteering and maintain said license while volunteering in this position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Modern office practices and records management/maintenance procedures, English grammar and spelling, Basic mathematics required to calculate and perform general accounting procedures, Filing and information systems, including EXCEL and Microsoft Word. Effectively operating personal computers, calculators and peripheral hardware and software products to provide guidance on the maintenance and implementation of developmental procedures of department to which assigned. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation, maintain a high standard of confidentiality, understand brief, written or oral directions and grasp ideas quickly in order to carry out instructions, solve problems with initiative and exercise good judgment.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Work is performed in an office atmosphere, with some exposure to the outdoors. Position requires frequent sitting at desk or table using a computer monitor and equipment. Occasional lifting of objects weighing less than 25 pounds and infrequent lifting of objects weighing 25 - 50 pounds.
