Job description

DIVISION: Operations
CLOSING DATE/TIME: Until Filled
LOCATION: 4305 E 21st Ave., Tampa, FL 33605
PAY RATE: $17.70/hr. per Union Contract
POSITION PURPOSE:
Repairs and maintains equipment, fixtures, shelters, park-n-rides and buildings owned by HART.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Install, repair, replace and paint benches, shelters, signs and other amenities.
  • Re-label signs and maintain information kiosks.
  • Bus stop maintenance to include trash removal, glass cleaning, pest control, grass cutting, test solar light systems and use blower to clean pad.
  • Maintains the safety and cleanliness of park-n-ride areas.
  • Travel HART routes inspecting signs, cleanliness and complete necessary repairs for all bus stops.
  • Uses various hand tools, power tools and measuring devices to make minor modifications, fabricate brackets, posts, or other items required to maintain the integrity of route amenities.
  • Performs all other work related duties as assigned.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate, preferred
  • Some general repair and maintenance experience.

Machines, Tools, & Equipment Used:
  • Forklift, lot sweeper, portable steam washer, maintenance tools.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must have or be able to obtain Florida Driver's License within 10 days of hire.
  • Forklift certification, preferred but not needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities.
  • Ability to learn safe operation of equipment i.e. forklift, lot sweeper and portable steam washer.
  • Ability to perform task requiring physical strength and endurance, where required.
  • Ability to work various shifts, hours and days.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirement.
  • Ability to be an effective team player.
  • Basic methods, materials, tools and equipment used in bench, sign, shelter, park-n-ride repair and installation.
  • Sign installation locations to alleviate interference with underground utilities and other obstacles.
  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards, precautions, and safety requirements of the associated job duties.
  • Care of materials i.e. decals, metal, glass and wood.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Exposure to extreme noise when interfacing in the shop. Decibel range of 85+ duration on an occasional level.
  • Exposure to mechanical hazards, fumes/odors and chemical hazards in the shop areas.
  • Subject to all weather conditions.
  • Constant periods of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and speaking.
  • Visual acuity necessary to perform all duties.
  • Frequent periods of walking and sitting.
  • Frequent periods of standing and squatting.
  • Occasional periods of lifting and carrying supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
