Parish Manager information

What is a parish manager?

Parish Managers are administrative professionals who oversee the daily operations of a parish, ensuring the smooth functioning of church activities and facilities. They handle tasks such as budgeting, managing staff and volunteers, coordinating events, and maintaining records. Parish Managers often serve as a liaison between the pastor, parishioners, and the broader community. Their role is essential for supporting the mission and ministries of the parish, allowing clergy to focus on spiritual leadership.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a parish manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Parish Manager, you need organizational skills, financial management experience, and knowledge of church operations, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with parish management software, bookkeeping systems, and office productivity tools is typically required. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving abilities help in fostering positive relationships within the parish community and managing staff or volunteers. These skills and qualities ensure efficient administration, financial stewardship, and a welcoming environment that supports the parish's mission.

What are the main challenges a parish manager may face in balancing administrative duties with supporting parish ministries?

A Parish Manager often faces the challenge of balancing day-to-day administrative responsibilities—such as budgeting, facility management, and human resources—with providing support to the various parish ministries and volunteers. This requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Successful Parish Managers foster clear communication between the clergy, staff, and ministry leaders to ensure smooth operations and collaborative problem-solving. Staying proactive and flexible is key to addressing unexpected issues while still supporting the parish’s mission and community needs.

What is the difference between Parish Manager vs Church Administrator?

About St John XXIII Catholic Church

Saint John XXIII exists so that we might deepen our discipleship in Jesus Christ and bring Him to the Colorado State University Campus, providing refuge and light in the darkness so that all might be rescued and have abundant life.

Men’s Coordinator of Campus Ministry:  Position Overview

The role of the Men’s Campus Ministry Coordinator is to create an environment in which college students can encounter Jesus Christ, be known and loved, and be formed into missionary disciples. Our Campus Ministry Coordinators play a key role in bringing to life the mission of RamCatholic by executing impactful events, retreats, and formation opportunities that draw students deeper into relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. The role is primarily responsible for the  execution of larger scale RamCatholic events and works closely with our FOCUS missionary team to support and strengthen FOCUS Bible study and discipleship initiatives.

The Men’s Campus Minister specifically is responsible for keeping his finger on the pulse of the men in RamCatholic. Alongside male FOCUS missionaries and our clergy, he actively seeks opportunities to build wider fraternity amongst the men within RamCatholic.  This will be accomplished by challenging men into deeper commitment as disciples and by calling men to discover their mission and vocation in the Church. The Men’s Campus Minister should also have a heart for encountering the lost, and should personally embrace the parish of Saint John XXIII and RamCatholic as a home. With an eye on the broader student community, he will work to make RamCatholic a refuge and light for every college student that walks through our doors, and he will serve as a resource and connector for each student we meet on campus.

The role requires flexibility, generosity, and availability; working 2-3 evenings/nights a week for RamCatholic events and our Candlelight Mass and working occasional weekends for retreats and ministry events. This role will work in close collaboration with our Women’s Campus Minister and the Director of Campus Ministry, along with the FOCUS Team Director, to ensure that the vision and mission of RamCatholic is successful and fruitful. The position will have an initial 90 day probationary period where the organization and employee can determine fit. The employee will receive an evaluation after the 90 day period.

Candidate Requirements and Expectations

The ideal candidate is first and foremost a missionary disciple - A man with a deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ who lets his interactions and ministry flow from the fruits of his daily prayer. We are looking for a candidate who is well formed in the teachings of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture, and Discipleship and who is able to spark curiosity and form others.

He should be approachable and relatable, with an ability to connect with a diverse range of college students. The right candidate will be able to effectively and efficiently manage their own schedule, ensuring all administrative work is completed in a timely manner and communicated with excellence. We are looking for a team player, as our parish staff works very collaboratively together alongside our FOCUS missionaries and parishioners, and desires to model shared life, shared prayer, and shared mission for our students. He should be able to take instruction, exercise flexibility, and sacrifice joyfully in the workplace. He should be willing to bring new ideas to the table and will be a key leader in rallying students around the ministry of RamCatholic and in sending students on mission to campus and eventually into the post-graduate world.
