JOB DIMENSIONS:
Job Summary:
Under moderate supervision, packs valves in proper cartons, crates, or boxes for
domestic or export shipments in accordance with prescribed procedures; and performs
other duties, as assigned.
Reports to:
Shipping & Receiving Manager
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Stencils or attaches shipping instructions on cartons or crates, as instructed;
  • Properly prepares and packs valves for shipment under general supervision;
  • Builds special crates and skids;
  • Drills and bolts valves to avoid shifting and to provide protection from damage in transit;
  • Operates forklift and hoist to move crates;
  • Operates small hand and power tools;
  • Operates table saw;
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
    • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations;

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following.
Experience/Training/Education:
Some experience in packaging methods and procedures is desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to match shipper invoices to the shop invoices of the packaged parts and valves;
  • Ability to respond to rush orders especially the last week of the month;
  • Must have working knowledge of United Parcel, Parcel Post, and air freight shipping procedures;
  • Ability to operate a forklift;
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions;
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers;
  • Ability to operate a foam machine and stencil machine;
  • Ability to operate a postal metering machine;
  • Ability to correctly compute postal rates given weights of packaged materials;
  • Ability to check and mark proper shipping instructions on cartons of goods being shipped;
  • Ability to use small power hand tools such as nail guns, power saws, and power drills;
  • Ability to use large power saws; and
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use hand trucks to move heavier valves;
  • Ability to bend, lift, move, and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or less; and
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
    • Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.

Special Requirements:
  • Appropriate company certification in the operation of a forklift;
  • Safety shoes; and
  • No jewelry or loose-fitting clothing permitted.
