Work Shift: T-S 12am - 8:30pm

The Target Pay for this position is $23.80 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Parasitology Laboratory Technician performs laboratory analyses and tests.In addition, they prepare samples, set up instruments, run tests and read, interpret, and release results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Sets up, runs,reads,and releases lab tests.

  • Meet allminimumdepartment requirements for Para and Giardia reading/releasing rates.

  • Exercisesjudgment in evaluating and reporting results.

  • Performs equipment maintenance activities.

  • Awareness of quality control and calibration.

  • Assistslead or supervisor with rechecks as directed.

  • Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized workarea.Restockssupplies as needed.

  • May becross trainedto perform other duties, such as performinglesscomplex tests, including duties performed by Para Aide.

  • Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.

  • Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalentrequired, Science degree or vet technician experience is preferred. Prior lab experience preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Laboratory skills, with experience setting up,running,and reading lab tests andoperatinglab instrumentspreferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.

  • Constantlyoperatesa computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.

  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch

  • May berequiredto lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Heavy microscopic work

  • The ability toobservedetails atcloserange.

  • Proficiencyin the English language which allows for participation in team meetings,accurateentry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions.

  • Extended hours may beneeded

  • Laboratoryenvironmentswith potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE.
