How much do parametric modelling jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 5, 2026, the average yearly pay for parametric modelling in the United States is $58,552.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $47,500.00 and $67,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in Parametric Modelling?

Professionals in Parametric Modelling spend their days developing, testing, and refining digital models that respond to specific design or engineering parameters. This involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand requirements and adjust models based on evolving project needs. They also troubleshoot computational problems, document workflows, and may present their solutions to stakeholders. The role often requires balancing technical precision with creative problem-solving, ensuring that the models produced are both functional and innovative.

What is a Parametric Modelling job?

A Parametric Modelling job involves creating digital models that use parameters and algorithms to automate design processes and generate adaptive, data-driven geometry. Professionals in this role work with software like Rhino with Grasshopper, Revit, or SolidWorks to develop intelligent models that update dynamically based on input variables. These models are widely used in architecture, engineering, and product design to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and customization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Parametric Modelling position, and why are they important?

To excel in Parametric Modelling, you need a solid background in mathematics, geometry, and computational design, often supported by a degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field. Proficiency with software such as Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, or Dynamo, and knowledge of programming languages like Python, is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, an eye for detail, and effective collaboration and communication skills help you work efficiently with interdisciplinary teams. These competencies enable you to produce accurate, innovative, and adaptable models that meet complex project requirements.
