Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall management of maintenance functions

to ensure the overall continuous operation of Paragon properties both from a production as well as a facilities

perspective. This position is responsible for seeing complex projects from inception to completion while providing

direction and instruction to maintenance staff while working collaboratively with plant management to prioritize tasks

and identify opportunities for improvement within the organization. This role must be knowledgeable in and follow all

procedures needed to ensure the proper safe and efficient operations of the production environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Identifies, plans, and formulates predictive and preventative maintenance programs and organizes maintenance staff according to requirements for maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and/or physical structures.
  • Coordinates and oversees building repairs with contractors and Paragon personnel and coordinates activities concerned with repairs and maintenance, scheduling and resolving maintenance problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of, planning and scheduling maintenance required for governmental agencies or requirements such as OSHA, etc.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products, provides technical support to plant operations through analysis of technical design to improve processes or designs from a maintenance perspective.
  • Ensures the accuracy of the setting, leveling, and aligning of process equipment.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to maintenance department employees, ensuring adherence to company standards, policy and procedure while providing continuous coaching and offering them opportunities for career development and learning.
  • Oversees staffing for maintenance department, works closely with Plant HR Manager to perform reviews, disciplinary actions, promotions and handle other employee relations issues.
  • Utilizes Programmable Logic Controller.
  • Works within the Computerized Maintenance Management System to review shift reports, work orders, etc. to stay current on issues within the plant.
  • Utilizes blueprints to understand machinery, facilities maintenance requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Maintenance Department is proficient in all safety requirements and that procedures are always observed and met as well as ensuring training requirements are kept up to date.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of machines and facilities. Ongoing learning through seminars, training, classes, etc. to ensure up to date knowledge related to job functions, equipment, electrical tasks and other applicable tasks as related to the job duties and continued growth.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge/Skill/Ability
  • Complete and thorough understanding of AC & DC electronics, systems, and components
  • Ability to troubleshoot AC & DC circuitry, components, PLC’s and automated equipment systems.
  • Ability to read, understand and utilize blueprints (schematics)
  • Advanced wiring skills
  • Complete understanding of and experienced in diagnosing and troubleshooting routine and complex mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems, experienced in industrial 3 phase electrical systems.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of hand and other maintenance related tools and can identify proper tools for various jobs; including but not limited to digital and analog voltmeter, amp meters, oscilloscope.
  • Experienced in using welding machines & torches.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement while adapting to fast paced environment and rapid changes. Able to juggle multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail.
  • Ability to be on-call and respond to maintenance calls and needs during off-shift hours.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with good problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Practice and promote teamwork within our organization.
  • High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality with the ability to be on call as need for maintenance issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to use hands including fingers to hold, touch, see, feel, grip, squeeze, push, pull.
  • Ability to perform pushing, pulling, forward exertion on a regular basis.
  • Ability to have overhead extension with arms on a regular basis.
  • Ability to use enhanced levels of manual dexterity with arms and hands to operate industrial power tools occasionally.
  • Ability stand, crouch, stoop, bend and squat frequently.
  • Ability to kneel occasionally.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to twist at the shoulder, neck, waist, and hip area on a regular basis.
  • Ability to rotate neck to look backwards, up, down, and sideways on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to climb on uneven surfaces occasionally.
  • Ability to must regularly lift and or move up to 65lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 80lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate verbally, in person and over paging system.
  • Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required.
EQUIVALENT EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of one to three years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment working on both facilities and machinery
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Maintenance in a plastics manufacturing environment
  • Preferred experience with industrial 3 phase electrical systems and troubleshooting
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:

Work involves overtime, shift rotations and schedule changes. Requires adherence to deadlines and project completion
