Assistant Superintendent, Recaust and Evaporator
The Opportunity
The applicant will use their experience and knowledge to provide day-to-day leadership for the Recaust and Evaporator area, which includes two lime kilns, 3 LTV evaporator sets, one falling film evaporator set, and 2 slakers. The applicant will work to Improve safety, environmental compliance, cost control and Kiln and Evaporator optimization. The applicant will be working towards gaining the need knowledge to be responsible for implementing and maintaining management systems to ensure continued improvement to overall process areas. Will assist with fostering and developing partnerships with adjoining production areas to create a "Winning Solutions" team environment. This position reports to the Power & Recovery Superintendent.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accountable for an accident-free work environment by managing the departments SOPs, JHAs and SES systems.
- Will ensure that Safety and Environmental standards are at the for front of all decisions and that all standards are achieved or exceeded.
- Engage in WR Performance Excellence (LSS), driving results to achieve a world class low-cost process.
- Review production reports daily, taking action to maintain area expectations for internal customers satisfaction.
- Monitor the mills daily fuel usage and make operational changes/decisions based on fuel and electrical pricing.
- Develop and implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment uptime and efficiency.
- Optimize Lime Kiln and Evaporator operation while ensuring an environmentally sound process system to maximize throughput, reducing downtime and costs.
- Communicate with other department managers to optimize mill production.
- Promote team concept with supervisors and operators to assure continuity in reaching common production goals.
- Provide after-hours managerial support for department as needed.
- Review environmental compliance measures daily, acting on any non-conforming items.
- Initiate process improvement projects to eliminate emissions/releases.
- Assist with developing and maintaining annual operating and maintenance cost budgets, reviewing monthly actuals to budget.
- Maintain asset management systems to improve equipment performance and reliability, including capital projects development while creating a "Standardized & Simplified" process to reduce the need for system experts.
- Work with the mill training department to ensure timely training of all personnel and conduct progress checks to ensure that employees are progressing in their training.
- Promote ISO standards throughout department.
What you need to succeed:
- B.S. Engineering preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience around Lime Kiln and Evaporator operation.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory position
- Previous experience with a Production Management System and Computerized Maintenance Management System required.
- Proficient in PI, Microsoft Office and JDE.

The salary range for this position is $91,500.00 - $152,500.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
