Job description

We are seeking an experienced wide / large format digital press operator to work on large format printing equipment including roll and sheet fed, heat presses, CNC cutters, laminators and more. Willing to learn new pieces of equipment is a must.

Large format experience such as Inca, Uvistar and Vutek background is needed. Knowledge of prepress (EFI Fiery) and the ability to set up files is important. Experience with Graphic art software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Pitstop, Efi workflows, and CNC is preferred. Skills: Operating solvent or wide format printers, CNC; cutting substrates and sign finishing. Weeding and taping; aligning vinyl on a substrate; using a squeegee; operating light, etc.
Attention to quality, troubleshooting and prioritizing work flows in addition to being able to operate and maintain the necessary finishing equipment. Under general direction, the operator is responsible for all aspects of large / wide format production.
This is a high volume fast paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with co-workers and customers with file transfers, FTP access, photo library options, online proofs, etc.
  2. Inspects jobs for accuracy before sending them to the plotter or printer
  3. Provides proofs as necessary
  4. Maintains accurate electronic and paper record of File Storage and Disks
  5. Follows a layout to place computer-generated vinyl or full color graphic images on a pre-determined substrate or medium
  6. Prepares substrates for application
  7. Performs finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting of printed pieces
  8. Installs signs and graphics
  9. Performs other duties as needed, such as consulting with customers, etc.
  10. Follow a layout to place computer-generated files per job instructions on wide format digital presses or vinyl or full color graphic image(s) on a predetermined substrate or medium.
  11. Accurately prepare substrates for application. This may include cutting, painting, laminating, cleaning and maintaining the substrates for application.
  12. Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-construction by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards (dpi, bubbles, ragged edges, loose seams).
  13. Perform finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting of printed pieces.
  14. Thread laminating or encapsulating material into machine, set temperature, pressure, and side guides for proper feeding of material.
  15. Operate the laminator maintaining proper fit and settings, and feed material into laminator.
  16. Communicate with other employees and customers in a calm and professional manner; express self verbally and listen well.
  17. Report inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the manager.
  18. Help unload and store raw materials; clean and maintain storage areas.
  19. Maintain production rate consistency; meet or exceed established minimum rates.
  20. Work on different projects simultaneously.
  21. Run proof sheet and secure approval for production run.
  22. Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
  23. Keep the production area neat, clean and organized.
  24. Understand the ordering process enough to take an order if necessary.
  25. Clean and maintain equipment and other tools as necessary.
  26. Perform installations as necessary.
  27. Production and manufacture of digital printing and finishing.
