Position Title:

Machine Operator

Category/Shift

Hourly Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 3:30pm - 11:20pm.  Primary schedule will be 2nd shift but must be flexible/able to work overtime & weekends, if needed.

The Job You Will Perform: 

The machine operator position is responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of his/her machine and overseeing of all employees assigned to his/her machine, in accordance with safety and work rules, under the supervision of Production management.  Must be able to demonstrate a complete understanding of mechanical functions of the machine and displays a high degree of trouble-shooting ability.  The Operator understands basic principles of corrugated, flutes, and corrugation direction.  The Operator is capable of determining, as needed, the best order to run various jobs for greater efficiency. Responsible for set up of all sections of the machine and stacker sections. Able to delegate machine responsibilities to crew members to insure the most efficient operation of the machine center. Ensures the quality of the finished product produced at the machine. Assures that productivity and throughput levels are maintained at the machine.  Responsible for assisting in run rate improvements, quality improvements and downtime elimination at the machine center.  Responsible for all associated order paperwork. 

  • Machine capabilities and limitations (must be capable of running machine at safe speeds) 

  • Set-up procedures

  • Quality - Maintains quality requirements in accordance with company standards. Demonstrated ability to detect, prevent, and resolve quality issues, involving management for resolution of issues or confirming quality expectations as needed to ensure top quality to meet customer needs. 

  • Die Cutting: cut to print register elimination of score cracking, cutting and stripping

  • Joining: Square folding, automatic bottoms, gap control, adhesion

  • Printing: Coverage, registration, crush, sharpness, viscosity

  • Sheet scoring: Dimensions, score quality

  • Responsible for set up duties as assigned. Adds/removes machine parts by hand, utilizing wrenches, as needed. 

  • Must be a self-starter, able to operate from directions or independently as needed

  • Must demonstrate teamwork and resolve issues effectively and professionally. 

  • Able to train helpers to take over the Operator position so that continuous run processes can be established, as needed

  • Machine maintenance and housekeeping

  • Must be willing and able to work daily and weekly overtime, including weekends, as business conditions require.

  • All other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent work experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
