Job description

We are seeking a Die Cutter to join our team in Commack, NY.
This position is responsible for operating and maintaining die-cutting machines to cut, shape, and form various materials according to precise specifications. This role ensures that the finished products meet quality standards, are produced efficiently, and are ready for further processing or shipment. Die Cutters works closely with production teams and other departments to ensure smooth operations and adherence to project timelines. This role reports to the Production Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate die-cutting machines to cut and shape materials like paper, cardboard, and plastic according to customer specifications or design requirements
• Prepare and load materials into the die-cutting machine, ensuring material types, sizes, and quantities are used correctly
• Install and adjust die tools, ensuring proper alignment and positioning to achieve precise cuts
• Ensure that dyes are in good working condition and adjust as necessary
• Inspect materials before, during, and after the die-cutting process to ensure cuts are accurate, edges are clean, and no defects are present. Perform regular quality checks to maintain consistency
• Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of die-cutting machines to ensure smooth operation and prevent breakdowns
• Report on any machine malfunctions or repairs needed
• Monitor the die-cutting process and adjust machine settings to optimize speed, accuracy, and material yield. Continuously looking for opportunities to improve workflow and reduce waste
• Adhere to safety protocols and use proper protective equipment when operating die-cutting machines
• Ensure that all safety measures are in place and followed
• Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine settings, materials used, and any issues that arise. Report on production status for supervisors and managers
• Work closely with other team members and departments, such as production, quality control, and shipping, to ensure deadlines are met and products are produced according to customer requirements
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in printing or machinery operation is a plus
• 1-3 years of experience as a Die Cutter in a printing environment or similar manufacturing.
• Familiarity with die-cutting machinery and tools. Basic understanding of material properties and the die-cutting process
• Strong attention to detail to ensure cuts are precise and high-quality standards are maintained
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with machines, materials, or the cutting process
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods while operating machinery
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality
• Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors
